I'm surprised this place is still open.. Food has always been above average to excellent, but service is very poor, the place is dirty and run down, and the prices are extremely high.. For a few bucks more, spend the extra and go to Kahill's for equally good food and much better service and ambiance....

Flew into SUX, wanted a Filet, drove over the Missouri, went to Dakota City, and straight to Hungry's. Ordered me a steak medium, baked potato, iced tea and went to the salad bar. Pickles were good, radishes were perfect. Grillmaster comes out, throws some filets on the grill and cooks them to perfection. Good cow! Good potato. Good texas Toast. Yep! I'm a fan.

Great food and drinks! Y'all! This place is like having a piece of Texas in Nebraska. My husband and I are very particular when it comes to good stake and we both where satisfied.

Begin rant... Not sure about these negative reviews... as every time I get a bad steak I send it back. Do people just eat it and then never complain until they blast the place online? Is that fair?? I don't think it is. Besides, I do not believe reviews without real people attached to them... i.e. a picture. I may be ugly, but I am real. Rant over. My clients and me all order a strip steak special on July 3rd for $10. All of us enjoyed it. They give you a Cajun salt to jazz it up, and I enjoyed that extra punch of flavor. IU do agree they need to sear the steak better here. Sweet potato fries were not bad either. I also paid the $4 extra to go to the salad bar a few times. They had beets, which I love. Some fresher broccoli would have been nice. All in all, the salad bar was okay and may have been worth the $4 adder.

Great local Siouxland steakhouse in Dakota City Nebraska. I have never had a bad meal here in 17 years. Great service and quiet atmosphere,

We just recently ate here on valentines night. I don't have a lot to complain about the food except for the ridiculous prices is why I'm giving a three star rating. When you pay $27.95 for a ribeye dinner you expect nothing but excellence. I then opted for three fried shrimp on the side at $2.75 apiece. The shrimp were nothing more than pre-breaded frozen shrimp I could probably get it at any sports bar. My fiancé's prime rib had very good flavor however came out very cool and the au jus' was very cool as well so halfway through dinner it was cold, The dinner was $29.95. Overall our bill was $75 and some change and we left a $10 tip because the server was very on the spot and friendly. I would probably go back to this place if I was in the area if it was not for the prices. We often frequent one of the best steak houses which will remain unnamed in Northwest Iowa if not the country and in comparison The ribeye dinner at our favorite place is $19.95, dry aged and to die for. The shrimp is hand breaded butterflied and amazing. Unfortunately the prices is what will keep me from coming back for sure to hungry's

We took my inlaws here when they were in town, because we were told they had good prime rib. Maybe it's because we hail from the land of Wisconsin supper clubs where they take their steak more seriously than their religion, but we weren't impressed. Texture was nice, but the flavor was gone by your second chew. The only option they had was medium - my mother in law is strange and likes hers medium well, while the rest if us like it medium rare. The salad bar was kind of sad, and if you're sensitive to the extender spray some places use on lettuce you should avoid it. My husband and his dad learned the hard way :). Also, the guy (owner?) sitting at the bar seating people as they came in was kind of creepy - he was staring into the dining room the entire time. Probably won't go back - I'd rather make a steak at home.

This is like if Sizzler was family owned and I loved it. Had the rib eye steak with rice pilaf. It comes with texas toast and is SO GOOD with butter. The rib eye was flavorful, and cooked perfectly on a grill in the middle of the room. Onion rings were great too, just lightly battered so the shell was thin and crispy. I also really enjoyed the salad bar because it as BACON BITS and celery sticks. The lettuce was meh, but the bacon bits made up for that quick! If you come in here the ambiance is more like tavern meets sizzler and so its casual and comfy. Its a little dark and they have TVs and a full bar and some great wines here. I will certainly be back again next time I'm in town.

I've been to Hungry's a couple times, most recently last week. Each time, my steak has been very good. For steaks alone, this is one of the better places in Sioux City. However, as other reviewers have noted, the restaurant atmosphere is not very good. The restaurant is dirty, dark, and crowded. If the place happens to be busy, the few servers are terribly overworked and service slows down. Also, Hungry's is not big on cooking your steaks to order. So, if you are going with Grandma, who wants her steak well done, or Uncle Fred, who likes his raw, you are going to have an unhappy group. Finally, while the steaks are the highlight of the menu, the salad bar is weak and the side dishes are iffy. From my group last week, one person had a good baked potato, one person had a cold baked potato, and one person had soggy, limp French fries. Same with appetizers. On one trip, the onion rings were underdone and under seasoned. On the next trip they were solid. With so much inconsistency, I just can't give Hungry's a stellar review. This place is popular with a certain type of Sioux City native, but is probably not a destination restaurant when visiting the area.

Really yummy food. Tried the appetizer combo platter, way more onion rings than anything else, but all good. Fast service. Really decent prices.

Hey Reed....just an FYI superstar....we all sent our steaks back, and got another slab of gristle. And another FYI....how do I know the picture is you? So, pictures don't really mean much.

Why can't you rate someplace zero stars, or negative stars. Simply god awful. $25 for a bone-in strip steak is a fair price, . . . for a decent steak. This one was tough, chewy, small, poorly cooked, etc. Salad bars are an antiquated idea to begin with. This one is an insult to an antiquated idea. Someone said they had some surprisingly good wines. $39 for a half bottle of undrinkable swill. Yes, the cook the steaks on a grill in the middle of the room. A grill that is clearly not hot enough to sear the outside of the steak. You can't do much to ruin a baked potato. It was passable, but the butter and sour cream were served in packages. Come on. This place deserves to go broke, and soon.

My girlfriend and I went here last Friday because I wanted her to try what I considered some of the best steak in the area. I was surprised to see the restaurant only about a third full at 7pm. However, surprising as this was, the food was pretty good, even if it was a bit over-priced. The bar was fully stocked and they have a large wine selection. I had the 1-pound sirloin which was cooked perfectly. The menu did offer chicken, pork, and veal. The service was pretty good and the owner/manager was really great, offering samples of a new beer he had just got in (not so great, but it's the thought that counts). The decor was seventies-style faux wood paneling and wildlife prints. Kind of old-style, but not terrible overall. I can't say this is my favorite restaurant, but it's certainly not a bad choice for a night out.

This place is amazing. I ordered the 1 lb. sirloin steak and had it done rare and it was perfect. There is a salad bar buffet here which really fills you up. The steak is prepared in front of you -- there is a grill in middle of the dining room. There is also a full bar. When we were leaving the owner personally thanked us. I would definitely recommend this place.

A co-worker of mine just returned from a funeral in the mid-west, which got me thinking of the year (June 2001 - June 2002) when I commuted every week between San Diego (my home area) and Sioux City for a project. My first night in Sioux City a co-worker took me to Hungry's. One visit was all I needed - I ate at least one meal a week every week that I continued to visit the area. Here is what I remember: - The best steak I have ever had; the rib eye was phenomenal - Appetizers were ordinary, but this is not why you visit Hungry's - Salad bar is, by California standards, a waste of time. Again, this is not why you visit Hungry's - Dessert was not served - Beer selection was good - Wine selection was surprisingly good - Service was excellent - Prices were more than fair I really miss this restaurant
